Shower curtain : "Let ´s not be heartless !"
Material: 100% PES
Technique: Screen Print
Tutor: Kärt Ojavee
Concept: How to make people consume less water?
Well, most of us like to take a shower for a long time, but by doing that we don´t realize what kind of an effect it has on the world.
So what can we do?
By using hot water, heat will make the pattern disappear on the shower curtain. The longer we are under the shower, the more of the pattern will disappear. So maybe by seeing an instant result of pattern fading we can test ourselves every time taking a shower, just how quickly can we wash ourselves without the pattern disappearing.
To make it even more obvious the pattern of the shower curtain contains images of hearts, to remind us not to be heartless, and of freshwater fish that are near extinction because of our consumerism of fresh water.
How it works: I used a thermochromic pigment to print half of the pattern and a printing pigment for the rest of the curtain. While taking a shower the thermocromic color starts to react and will start disappearing with heat. After showering the pattern will slowly return.
